Me and my oud

My oud is like me.
Short and round. Not an ordinary guitar.
Double strings – awesome sound
when strings are tuned, and like my mood
they rarely are.

My oud has no frets.
It is not limited to semitones.
I can play a quartertone, even a
two hundred and fifty-sixth tone
if my fingers are small enough.
Any interval is possible
just like my brain can go
any synapse road untravelled before.

Ebony pegs are considered good
since they make the tuning stay.
My oud has pegs of apricot.
Adjust as much as you want
try to tame the sound
after a second my oud and I
return to the noise
we were born to play.
