Reflection

Mirrors of drowning and quenching
licking the beach and becoming
one with the sky
She did not see her reflection in them
She heard it in the geese
that hollow out of tune mooing
She saw it in the sand, a sunken stone
unaware of the sun in the coltsfoot
just the stalk's hospital smell
far away from lovers and family ties
so far away that they never
existed at all

Speglar av drunknande och törstsläckande
som slickar stranden och smälter
samman med himlen
Hon såg inte sin reflektion i dem
Hon hörde den i gässen
det ihåliga ostämda råmandet
Hon såg den i sanden, en ihopsjunken sten
oemottaglig för solen i tussilagon
bara stjälkens lukt av sjukhus
långt ifrån älskare och släktband
så långt att de aldrig fanns
